There are 14 people on the W3C's Social Web Incubator Community Group today. The group is finalizing new documents that describe how to use WebFinger and HTTP Signatures in the #Fediverse, and a bunch of other work going on as well.
So glad to see what there is ongoing work making the technical plumbing that makes the Fediverse work even better!

Interesting stuff...
(the original opt-out idea was nuts... it had to cause a major storm. Becoming opt-in, even if discoverability isn't all that well implemented, I don't think I'll mind.
That being said, Bluesky should simply implement ActivityPub. That's the goddamn W3C standard, for crying out loud!)

Hmm, not sure what to think about that description. I see the appeal but do we want to stretch “open source” all the way to include closed implementations of open protocols?
